And he had some pretty legendary mates too — Renoir, Cézanne, Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet, and a few other big-name French impressionist artists.

Yep, I went to an art gallery — but not just any old gallery. This one’s digital. It’s called The Lume, and it’s set up at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

The gallery’s made up of a few big rooms where paintings are projected onto the walls and floor, changing beautifully as you go. There's music playing, the lighting shifts, the sounds change... It really feels like you’re stepping right into the world of that era and their art.

There’s a soft carpet on the floor and a few seats dotted around. You can do whatever you like — walk around, sit, lie down, even have a bit of a dance if you’re feeling it... That’s the vibe of this gallery.

Right now the exhibition’s all about the French impressionists. The one before this was all about Van Gogh.

 А друзья у него тоже были ничего себе: Ренуар, Сезанн, Дега, Тулуз-Лотрек, Манэ и еще кое-кто из французских художников-импрессионистов.

Да-да, я сходил в картинную галерею, да не простую, а цифровую. Называется она The Lume и расположена в Мельбурнском выставочном центре. 

В галерее несколько залов, в которых на стены и пол проецируются, живописно сменяясь, картины. Звучит музыка, меняется освещение, звуковой фон... Создается ощущение погружения в атмосферу того времени и живописи.

На полу мягкий ковер, там и здесь стоят тумбы для сидения. Можно делать что хочешь - ходить, сидеть, лежать, танцевать... Такая вот картинная галерея. Теперешняя экспозиция по французским импрессионистам. Предыдущая была посвящена Ван Гогу.
