Last Sunday turned out to be a real beauty – sunny and warm. That kind of weather’s a bit of a rare treat in Melbourne, since it’s usually the opposite. So I put everything on hold, loaded up the bike with my camera gear, and headed out to Mornington.
I had two things in mind for Mornington. First up, there’s a dog beach down there where dogs go nuts running around in the water and sand, loving the freedom and company. I asked the owners if it was alright to take some shots, and they were cool with it. Ended up sharing the pics with them later. These ones:

The second plan was to mess around a bit more with a black filter and long exposures down at the Mornington pier. I also brought along my infrared camera just for fun. That part didn’t go quite as well – turns out the pier and boats are always gently swaying, so most of the shots ended up blurry. Ah well, live and learn! Didn’t get anything particularly great, but it was a good learning experience. Here's what I managed:

"Today, at one of the military bases in Tel Aviv, they showed raw footage captured by the body cameras of terrorists and street cameras from October 7.
Unedited, exactly as it was.
We were warned beforehand that it would be extremely difficult to watch — that what we were about to see was beyond imagination...
When they began showing the children, it felt like my heart stopped listening to me. I couldn’t bear it. I walked out.
I don’t understand how anyone can witness this and not condemn it. I don’t understand how anyone can shift blame onto the Israeli army — most of whom are ordinary people who had lived peaceful lives before this. They’ve stood up to protect those who suffered unimaginable horrors.
Hamas is a real, modern-day Auschwitz. A 21st-century Treblinka. A Babyn Yar. Those who have not condemned Hamas are no different to the overseers at Sobibor and Majdanek.
Jews who cry about the ‘disproportionate response’ — you are the Judenräte and the kapos of today. You are repugnant.
Wishing a swift and complete victory to our people."
