The first one’s from the beach at Point Leo – it’s on the much-loved Mornington Peninsula. Nothing fancy, just a nice spot. There’s plenty of space for camping and some good waves for the surfers. I was actually surprised not to see heaps of them out there.
The beach itself had a couple of interesting things going on – a fast tide going out and some seriously hot sun. The sand started drying so quickly that you could see steam rising up in clouds. Caught a few shots of it here:

The second one’s from Richmond – one of Melbourne’s older suburbs. It’s a pretty mixed bag there. You’ve got old mansions, tiny workers' cottages from the early 1900s, and big ugly high-rise commission flats – mostly full of families on welfare, a lot of them Muslim women in hijabs with ten or more kids. But the real vibe comes from the streets full of shops, cafes, bars, and so on. It really comes alive at night. Word is, if you’re chasing drugs – especially heroin – that’s the place to go too.
I went for a wander there with an infrared camera and a deep filter at 850 nanometres. No colours at all – the shots are purely black and white.

P.S. Things are getting out of hand with some of the Muslims here. It’s a small minority, but it’s enough to leave a strong impression. They’ve basically started hunting Jews – driving into Jewish neighbourhoods and bashing random people nearly to death. Some are even marking Jewish homes. Shops have started putting up signs saying Jews not welcome...
The cops act like it’s no big deal – like, yeah, someone got bashed, so what. The government’s keeping quiet too. Only the Foreign Minister speaks up – and that’s just to slam Israel. The Greens and the socialists? They’re out there marching with the Arab crowds.
We’re living in strange times...
