Tesselaar’s a family of Dutch background who’ve been running a flower farm in Victoria for over 70 years. Sounds a bit casual, but honestly, it’s a proper serious business. Their farm covers dozens – maybe even hundreds – of hectares, and it’s just a short drive out of Melbourne. They grow flowers on a big, industrial scale, using modern greenhouses and all the latest ag science.
On top of growing flowers for sale, the Tesselaars set aside one field for the public to enjoy. Every spring, they run the Tulip Festival there, and every autumn they put on the “Kabloom” flower festival. Right now it’s autumn (southern hemisphere, in case you forgot), and the flower fest is in full swing. Apart from all the flowers, there’s live music, Dutch food (wasn’t really my thing, to be honest), souvenir shops, and even acrobat shows.
I snapped a ton of photos and split them into three albums. This is the first one. If you see some blurry and weird shots, that’s me mucking around with ICM – Intentional Camera Movement. Basically using a slow shutter speed and moving the camera on purpose.
Anyway, here’s the first flower album:
