Had a day to lazily wander around Melbourne’s city centre — this time with an infrared camera. Why infrared? Well, because I’ve already wandered around with a normal one! Thought it’d be cool to see my favourite city in a different, invisible light.
First up, I ended up in Chinatown — Little China, as the area around Little Bourke Street is called. Fun fact: Melbourne’s Chinatown actually developed back when the city was first being built. It’s not just recent immigrants setting up shop — the history of Chinese settlers in Australia goes back as far as the English ones.
These days, Chinatown’s a lively little area full of Asian communities and businesses. Not just Chinese either — you’ll find Vietnamese, Koreans, Filipinos, and more. Honestly, it feels a lot safer wandering around there than in some of the rougher white suburbs. Plus, there’s heaps of awesome little restaurants!
After Chinatown, I strolled along Swanston Street — the main drag through the city. Only trams run down there now. Then I wandered a bit along the north bank of the Yarra River, snapping pics with different infrared filters at different wavelengths. Here’s what came out:

And as for the music video — I finally got around to editing some drone footage I shot over Cardinia Reservoir. If you’re after more info on the reservoir, check out the newsletter from a couple editions ago (I think).
