Autumn and the Cemetery

It’s autumn here in the southern hemisphere. In Europe and America, that means golden and red leaves putting on a show. But Aussie trees? Yeah, they don’t bother with that. No bright colours, no leaf piles to jump into. Instead, they shed bark, drop branches, or just fall over entirely because their roots are weak. Not exactly the most considerate neighbours.

That’s why European trees are pretty popular here. You’ll find them in parks, suburbs, and cemeteries—anywhere people want a bit of that classic autumn vibe.

Today was a beautiful sunny day (and more importantly, a day off). I got thinking about autumn leaves… and decided to head to a cemetery, just for something different. Took my infrared camera along for fun. The black-and-white and weirdly coloured shots were taken in infrared. A few photos at the end of the album are from another day in the city—I threw them in for good measure.

Осень и кладбище

У нас в южном полушарии сейчас осень. В Европе и Америке осень  - это красивое время года с золотой и красной листвой на деревьях. Австралийские же деревья такое ежегодичное шоу нам не устраивают, не желтеют и листву не сбрасывают. Вместо этого они могут сбрасывать кору, ветки или валиться сами, потому что корни у них слабые. Австралийские деревья, это довольно неудобные соседи. Вот поэтому европейские деревья здесь популярны. Их часто сажают в парках, жилых районах и на кладбищах. 

У нас выдался красивый солнечный (а главное выходной) день. Я поразмышлял на тему осенней листвы... и отправился именно на кладбище, для интереса прихватив заодно и инфракрасную камеру. Ч/б и снимки со странными красками сняты именно в ИК. Несколько фото в конце альбома были сняты в другой день в городе. Я их добавил за компанию.
